WILLOW BROOK GARDEN CLUB

Willow Brook Garden Club members explore the science and beauty of plant horticulture and flower arranging in a casual setting.

The club’s official objectives are to “promote and encourage the beautification of our neighborhoods, to encourage interest and activity in horticulture fields, to promote conservation of the natural resources of the area, and to enhance our homes through artistic use of flowers and plants.”

The Willow Brook Garden Club meets the third Wednesday of each month, September through May, at 7:30 p.m. in the Canterbury Woods Elementary School cafeteria.

We offer light refreshments and an opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss our latest projects, and get advice from seasoned gardeners. An interest in gardening and/or flower arranging is all you need to participate!

Our programs include a mix of gardening, flower arranging, some landscaping, and plant exchanges.   We arrange day trips to special gardens and flower shows, we also have an outreach program with the Heatherwood Assisted Retirement Community.

A typical year’s programs at Willow Brook Garden Club include lectures, slide shows, demonstrations, and workshops on topics such as water gardens, irrigation and lighting, holiday flower arranging, lotus gardens, xeric landscaping, and photographing your garden. Two meetings each year include what we call “mini shows,” where entries of horticulture specimens from the garden and flower arrangements are judged and the show itself critiqued. The shows provide a wonderful learning experience for all members.

The Willow Brook Garden Club has remained consistently popular since its beginning in 1966. We welcome new members throughout the year. For information on how to become a member please consult your LRCA directory.
